The original Esther's Cajun Café & Soul Food was founded in Houston's Historic Independence Heights by Ms. Esther Lewis. What began as a neighborhood restaurant quickly became a beloved gathering place where faith, family, and exceptional Southern hospitality came together around every table. For more than 18 years, Ms. Esther built a legacy rooted in resilience, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
Ms. Esther Lewis learned to cook from her own mother, Gladiola Lewis, whose meals nourished Houston's Catholic priests with patience, intention, and love. That same spirit became the foundation of Esther's Cajun Café & Soul Food through founder Ms. Esther Lewis — a legacy now carried forward by the next generation daughter, Dru Evans, and son-in-law, Maurice "Mo" Evans, owners of Esther's 2.0.
